Legal Battle Over the Title: Aashiqui 3 or Not?
Aashiqui 3 was originally set to be co-produced by Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt, with Mukesh Bhatt having produced the first two iconic installments. However, in March 2024, Bhushan Kumar announced that he would be producing the film solo, sparking rumors of the film being titled Tu Aashiqui Hai.
Despite this, Kartik Aaryan reportedly wanted the film to remain part of the Aashiqui franchise. In September 2024, the situation took a legal turn when Mukesh Bhatt went to court over the title, leading the Delhi High Court to rule in his favor, restricting T-Series from using “Aashiqui” in the title.
According to the court ruling, confusion could arise among the audience, potentially leading them to believe that the film is officially linked to the Aashiqui franchise. Interestingly, T-Series retains the rights to the music from the previous Aashiqui films, allowing them to use those iconic tracks. Insiders reveal that the makers are still negotiating with the Bhatts to secure the title, which explains the delay in announcing the film’s name. As of now, the movie is scheduled for a Diwali 2025 release, leaving T-Series with limited time to finalize the title before promotional activities commence.
